EC-B Lostallo 2010
Recently we received a racereport from Remy Möller about his European Championship at Lostallo.
Thanks for this nice report Remy!
European B Championship 10th 200mm Lostallo, Switzerland
We left of to Switzerland on Sunday morning around 7 o’clock. With a few stops on the way we arrived around 7 o’clock in the evening at the beautiful MRTM track at Lostallo.

Monday May 10th
As we arrived at the track it was still wet. Because both my team mate (Ricardo v Dam) and myself needed to break in a new engine we already did some pre-running on the startbox before we could hit the track. As soon as the track was dry enough I started to make my first laps on the largest track in Europe. After the first day I was pretty happy with the performance of the car. I did try the solid front axle but it didn’t work with the track conditions at that moment. Ricardo was busy to get rid of his radio interference he had the hole day.
Tuesday May 11th
Tuesday was all in all a really bad day. It rained all day long. Because we had nothing to do at home we did go to the track to prepare the car for the next day.
Wednesday May 12th
Today starts with the same weather we had the day before. The car was already prepared for the next practice run so we had to wait till the track is dry again. Around 1 o’clock it stopped raining and the track was at 4 o’clock completely dry again so practice is on it’s way again. The track was open till 7 o’clock so in the 3 hours that the track was open for practice I could get more familiar with the track and car. My team mate Ricardo still had problems with radio interference and almost tried everything to get rid of it. Eventually the problem was gone after trying another transmitter.
Thursday May 13th
I could find myself back in the top 10 after the practice runs.
Friday May 14th
After the team managers meeting we started with one practice run. They would count your 5 best consecutive laps what will determine your qualification position. From lap one i had a good pace if i could keep this up for 5 laps i would be reseeded to the last and fastest heat. But after 4 laps my rear belt broke and i could find myself in the back of the pack. Ricardo could find himself back in the top 20 that was good enough to be in the second last heat for the all important qualifying.
Qualifing started in the afternoon with one round to be completed this day. My first qualification was already over after one lap. My engine stalled 2 times so a good position wasn’t possible after the first day. Ricardo also had some troubles in his first qualifier.
Saturday May 15th
You do not only have a disadvantage of driving in a slow heat but you also driving on a wet rack when you have to drive around 10 o’clock in the morning. That’s what happened to me this morning. The next qualifier wasn’t that good with on roll of the car a good classification. So I had to do it in my last qualifier al or nothing i changed to the lw rims gain some more speed. As the last qualifying started I noticed the car was not as good as before and with two rolls in this round I dind’t improve my time.
Sunday May 16th (Finals day)
16th final
Because my final starts at 10 o’clock i had enough time to prepare my car for my final. After the start I hit a curb in the chicane for the straight. At that moment i found myself back in 9th position from that point it was only getting better. After a few minutes i drove already in the top 3 that is good enough to climb a final. I ended this finale in 2nd position 2 seconds behind the 1st place. Knowing i made one extra fuel stop that cost you about 7 seconds. Even though the car isn’t that good as it was in practice i still managed my fastest lap of the week 21.8.
8th final
Because we had little time of preparation I started right after the 16th final fixing the body post at the back of the car that came loose in the first lap of the final before. After that I trued my tyres with a few minutes for my next final. As I trued my last tyre warm up already started so i had to hurry. I had enough time to warm the tyres on the car and every thing seemed ok.
I had a perfect start of this final. At the end of the straight I managed to pass a few cars and after the first lap i was in 2nd position right behind dutch driver Jurgen Geerligs. As I didn’t want to push him i hold my distance but after a couple of laps jurgen made a mistake upcoming straight so at that point i was leading the race. Around 15 minutes i had already one lap over the hole field but I also noticed I was running out of right front tyre. This problem only became worse and with 3 minutes to go my first position became 2nd and 3rd. I ended this final in 7th position. I was really upset that i was running out of tyres as everything seemed to run smooth. The thing about the tyres a found the most strange was I trued them the same as the final before. To bad I was running out of tyres because my pace was really good. So the European B Championship are over for me.
I want to thank Team Shepherd/Orion and Merlin fuelfor the’re effort.
Greetings,
Remy Möller
